Good things…

It’s a long road back to racing after my relatively minor injury. Initially after my crash I was so focused on getting back on the bike I didn’t even want to leave it three weeks before my next race. After waiting two weeks for surgery I’I’m now a few more weeks down the line and everything is healing well. I was told that everything has healed up extremely quickly, but it feels like a million years to me – I really want to ride my bike now!

Having looked at the x-rays it’s clear that there was a great deal of damage to my shoulder and the surgeon has told me that previously he couldn’t be certain that the operation would be a success. Right now the various cracks and breaks are beginning to fuse, but are still fragile so I’ve got to be sensible about it and give it some time.

So for the time being I’m left turbo training and watching races from the sidelines. It’s frustrating to watch those points, so hard fought for at the beginning of the ‘cross season, just trickling away, but I’m being really positive about the 2014 season with KTM, Helly Hansen and Tribeca Sport. Planning my calendar out now it looks pretty busy already and it’ll be nice to properly mix it up both on the road and mountain bikes.
